Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan have joined the cast of helmer Neil Jordan's "Byzantium." The project, produced by Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen's London-based Number 9 Films, is based on "Tamara Drewe" scribe Moira Buffini's play "A Vampire Story," about two mysterious women who claim to be vampire siblings. The ?8 million ($13 million) budgeted pic is set to shoot in Blighty in mid-October and reunites Jordan and Woolley. Jordan directed Number 9's "Breakfast on Pluto" in 2005 and has also worked with Woolley on "The Crying Game," "Interview With the Vampire" and "The End of the Affair." Number 9 is also working on a treatment for Albanian crime pic "Hyena," helmed by second-time director Gerard Johnson, whose debut "Tony" was a hit at the 2009 Dinard Film Festival. The low-budget pic, which has backing from Film4 and the British Film Institute, examines the underworld of Albanian organized crimes in London. "Hyena" toplines Peter Ferdinando, who also starred in "Tony," and aims to shoot in September. Number 9's Joanna Laurie produces alongside Woolley and Karlsen.
